What We Recycle

What We Recycle

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipments (WEEE) is the fastest growing waste stream in the world.

We usually talk about FUN facts. But here are some SAD facts about our e-waste:

- 40 million tons of electronic waste is produced every year, worldwide. That’s like throwing 800 laptops every second. If you were to put them all in 18 wheelers, that is enough to form a line from New York to Tokyo!

- E-waste comprises 70% of our overall toxic waste.

- ONLY 12.5% of E-Waste is recycled.

- 85% of our E-Waste are sent to landfills and incinerators are mostly burned, and release harmful toxins in the air!

- 300 million computers and 1 billion cellphones go into production annually. It is expected to grow by 8% per year.

So we really need to start talking about recycling better. And we are here to help. We, here at Olive Recycling, recycle...

Computers, desktops, laptops, monitors, TVs, printers, full or empty toners, mice, cellphones, wires and anything else you can think of with a plug...

COMPUTERS

Every day in the United States, there are more than 130,000 computers that end up in trash. As you can imagine, computers don't go alone. When they get dumped, all the accesories that come with it also gets dumped. Meaning not just the a box with bunch of wires, but together with it additional items such as a monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers and such electronics also end up in the same landfill... We take them ALL!

CONSUMER ELECTRONICS

We as consumers LOVE using new technology. The better, the stronger, the larger, the more efficient... So when it comes to our broken screen cell phones or tablets that costs more to fix than buy a new one, we tend to throw them away. Same for cameras, video game consoles, headphones & audio systems, stereos, smart watches, electronic musical instruments, VCRs, home/office phones etc. WE take them ALL!

BUSINESS OR HOME OFFICE EQUIPMENTS

Photocopiers, printers, fax machines, all in one printers... They are a must have part of our office lives. They are also part of our home lives. We love to print out hard copies. This becomes crucial especially when the toner runs out. An average consumer spends about $8000 on toners for the lifetime of a printer that costs less than $100. It is A LOT of toners that end up in trash with hazardous materials inside. We take them ALL! We recycle empty toners and have great procedures in place working in a large, leading multinational companies in safely discarding your empty toners.

TVs

The most common hazardous electronic items include LCD desktop monitors, LCD televisions, Plasma Televisions, TVs and computers with Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT). We take them ALL!
